Authentic movements of uprooting whiteness, anti-colonial resistance, ancestral recovery, and re-indigenization are steps within this over-arching process that is often called decolonization.  But white settlers face persistent and insidious pressures to turn back from these movements within our personal lives from friends and family triggered by fragility responses, and also within the institutions we work, organize, socialize, and engage in, that may be invested in the supremacy of eurocentric, white settler cultural values and desires.

We must be vigilant to engage in right action, and not make the wrong turn into superficial movement, detour, or denial. If we take an unhelpful turn, let’s learn from our mistake and keep moving in the right direction. Together, we can help each other be accountable and make healthier choices for the benefit of all Life.
