Weaving Oceans

We are a collective of individuals focused on ancestral recovery and rememberance from a European context. We are of diverse genders, lineages, abilities, perspectives, and experiences, present both in settler state and modern European state settings, of both native-born and settler-diasporic descent. We work to generate kinship and support with each other in our efforts towards the recovery of ancestral lifeways, building solidarity with peoples of other ancestral and cultural contexts, and acting in right relationship with the wider animate world around us. We hold great importance in bridging the ocean between those of us living in diaspora and those in Europe who do not. We are weaving oceans.

Our work is inherently geared towards returning lifeways in an authentic, holistic manner – not simply as isolated interests, social justice actions, individualist spirituality, or aesthetic role-playing (LARPing). Our movements are part of an intergenerational healing process that is much needed and has been explicitly asked for throughout centuries by Indigenous peoples facing European colonisation. This work includes building practical skills (such as crafts, language learning, and spiritual experience) that help to remediate colonial contexts as opposed to adding to it.

We believe that spirituality plays a central, vital role in ancestral recovery and of unsettling / decolonisation of cultural lifeways, and that all people should be freely provided with the tools and information needed to aid in reconnection & return with our these lifeways in an appropriate manner, standing strong against both commodification and appropriation of cultures (both of our own ancestors and all others).

We operate within a strong anti-capitalist, anti-imperialist, anti-racist, accessible framework that stands against oppression in all its forms, and seeks to reckon with our own histories in an open and honest manner. We wholeheartedly stand against white supremacy, blood quantum, ethnonationalism, right-wing nationalism, christian supremacy, and western identity movements, and believe it is our responsibility to find opportunities to do right where our ancestors did not, or could not.

We stand in defense of Mother Earth, and all her Peoples, human and otherwise.
